LPMC FUNCTIONALITY

Local Project Monitoring Committees

The Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) are essential mechanisms established by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the Philippines to enhance the transparency, accountability, and effectiveness of government projects at the local level. These committees, formed at various administrative levels, including provincial, city, and municipal governments, play a critical role in ensuring that government-funded projects are implemented efficiently and in accordance with established plans and guidelines.

LPMC FUNCTIONALITY

Historically, the concept of LPMCs was developed to address the need for community involvement in monitoring public works and other government projects, fostering a participatory approach to governance. The LPMCs empower local stakeholders, including representatives from civil society, the private sector, and various government agencies, to actively engage in the oversight process. Through regular monitoring and evaluation, LPMCs provide valuable feedback to both local and national government agencies, helping to identify issues, ensure timely completion, and promote the optimal use of resources. This initiative reflects the DILG’s commitment to strengthening local governance and promoting the principles of good governance across the Philippines.
